I can feel a bit of influence from other sources finding it's way into my ideas. One example being Daido Moriyama's classic 1976 photo book Tales of Tono. The book defies any singular definition of genre, other than the fact it's high contrast photos are often highly surreal and otherworldly. Ideally the images should be seen in book form so that when viewed together present a loose narrative. The subject matter is often unclear and the edges of the frame are often undefined and seep out in the black negative space. It's a great little book and has certainly influenced the type of photos I try to take.
