you know, in editing terms, what might be lovely is if your bring the colour up out of desaturation as the music builds, and then drop it back down into b/w for the final, gloomy resolution; I can imagine how the warmth bleeding into the work (as opposed to going 'pop!') would be very evocative and somehow sad.
