Major Project: Lantern Light Effect

This was quite a bit trickier to achieve than the last ones. The pattern on the lantern is a texture so the light fog and shadow doesn't pass through as you'd expect, unless raytracing is turned on. However, Raytracing and Mental Ray shadows look awful with fog. I've had to fake the effect using hidden geometry and turning off the shadow casting ability of the lantern so that light passes straight through it and reacts with the hidden geometry instead.
