So it should be obvious that in my free time I'm beginning to find the pieces for my Major Project.
Maybe some will recognise the name Gustavo Santoallala, he did soundtracks for; Brokeback Mountain, Motorcycle Diaries and Alejandro González Iñárritu's films (Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel and Biutiful) He specialises in haunting soundscapes of a very twangy nature. I can't find the track I want on Youtube but here's a taster from his album Ronroco.
And secondly is Ry Cooder, a renowed guitarist probably most famous for his collabration and bringing together of Cuban musicians and singers in the 'Buena Vista Social Club' which was the basis of the great Wim Wenders documentary of the same name. He produced the soundtrack for the great film Paris, Texas and the album is brilliant piece of music in own right. I'd heard and loved the soundtrack long before I'd watched the film. It's an extremely moody and haunting soundscape.
He also produced a brilliant soundtrack for the film Southern Comfort.
