After a great a tutorial session with Chris Hunt I'vemuch closer to finding the subject for my dissertation. The two potential subjects below come from my Framing Practise essay in which I compared Imamura's Black Rain to Redacted.
1. Dissertation about War Films. Different Cultural Attitudes. How are current attitudes to conflict expressed in film.
2. Putting people in Impossible Situations. What is an impossible situation, what does it mean to be put into an impossible situation? The example of 'Usual Suspects' was bought up, more specifically the scene where the Keyser Soze is put in what you would call an imposible situation and his way of dealing with it is to kill his family. When you think about it, this sort of thing is pretty much a fundamental narrative concept in so many films and tv shows.
