Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS

I thought best to desensitise myself as much as possible for my first outing and oh boy have I been desensitised. Let's see, gratuitous nudity and sex from the opening scene, shortly followed by a castration, a horrible rape scene, more violence, gloopey blood. more sex, more sex and more sexual violence. I can imagine someone renting this thinking it was a cheesey so-bad-it's-good midnight movie (which is in fact what it is) and being thoroughly shocked at what's on show.

It's hard for me to say whether it's any good or not as a film its own right. A lot of reviews I've read praise it as a masterpiece of pure exploitation and I'm going to be honest and I say I enjoyed it, it's just a no holds barred slice of extreme counter-culture. I think it's stylish, the costumes and props are pretty great and the whole female Nazi thing is pretty iconic. It also has a good story, lots of over the top bloodshed, ham-fisted dialogue, good characters and the end act is great. Sure all the naked women, violence and sex can become a bit too much but it's more often than not its coupled with awful German accents and lots of cheap gore. With so much bare flesh on show for the sake of having bare flesh, it's hard to take it too seriously or really get too offended and at the end of the day it's only a film. Overall a real good'un to start off with I'd say.

I will not post a trailer because the only the I could find was verging on softcore pornography and I don't want to be banned from another site :(. Here's a link haha. Beware though.

Achtung!

Unfortunately, my next films wont be coming for a couple days.

Starting as you mean to go on, I see, Mr Beg? You grubby oik! ;-) As I was watching the trailer (I've never seen the film, but now I think I should), I couldn't help but think of the following from The Two Ronnies - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndgGM5GEoAI

Just goes to show how, ultimately, the mainstream absorbs and reuses even the most taboo of imagery...

... meanwhile, one of the soon-to-be first years (who is already blogging) put me onto this cg animation; it's been flipped - don't know why - but its art direction is very rich and the cg very painterly; let me know what you make of it...

It was just a happy coincidence that the first film I picked just so happened to be the raunchiest of the lot. :) :) :)

That animation is really nice, though Fantasy isn't my thang. Love the lighting in places.
